WHAT ARE PDO MONO THREADS?
Mono threads are a relatively new aesthetic treatment in the UK.
This material has been used by the medical industry for many years and is specifically used for internal sutures (stitches) so we know the product to be extremely safe.
Each mono thread is extremely fine in appearance and the PDO (polydioxanone) material is biodegradable and what makes this treatment even more appealing is that it is completely chemical free.
Once placed underneath the skin you cannot feel them and they cannot be seen 'through' the skin.

HOW DO MONO THREADS WORK?
Lots of tiny mono threads are positioned just under the surface of the skin with very specific and strategic placement.This action provokes the body to produce fibroblast cells. The fibroblast cells then create collagen at a far quicker rate, and this brand new collagen is laid down at the site of each mono thread.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MONO THREADS?
The insertion of mono threads force the body to create new collagen.
Collagen will densify the dermal layer (top layer) of the skin helping with skin laxity.
A thicker dermis will relax the appearance of lines and wrinkles, it will tighten loose skin and reduce the appearance of enlarged pores.
Mono threads also give the skin a new 'glow', bring hydration, improved clarity and tone.

WHO ARE MONO THREADS SUITABLE FOR?
This treatment is suitable for clients aged 25+ and works as a preventative to ageing.
For more severe laxity or age 60+, Bio-Stimulation may be more suitable but I can advise best for each individual during a free consultation.
We can treat the full facial areas, tighten around the jawline, neck, decollete, loose skin on tummy, hands and knees.

BUYER BEWARE:
Most practitioners offering this treatment only use a small handful of mono threads and do not have the appropriate knowledge about accurate placement or technique, and still charge you a high price.
This will NOT get you a result.
I offer 'advanced' mono thread treatments and no expense is spared.
I use the correct number of threads for each area in order to maximise results.
Suitable and strategic placement, direction and type of thread in are all KEY to efficacy.
Simply 'stuffing' in threads with no understanding will not yield you results.

DO I NEED MONO THREADS OR
BIO-STIMULATION WITH RADIESSE, SCULPTRA OR GOURI?
Mono threads are best targeted to treat mild to moderate issues and skin laxity.
Monos will give you a result for 9 to 12 months.
Radiesse, Sculptra or Gouri is best suited to moderate to severe laxity. It offers a more advanced dermal thickening result as the added polymer acts as a more powerful preventative in the ageing process as will provide additional collagen that will continue to work for up to 1.5 years.
However, we can target and place mono threads more specifically than we can with Radiesse/Sculptra/Gouri, so they all have their advantages...
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MONO THREADS AND BIO-STIMULATION WITH RADIESSE, SCULPTRA OR GOURI?
Essentially, they all work the same to produce type I collagen.
Monos are inserted under the skin and produce collagen around each thread (this is why lots of threads are needed so collagen can cover that area appropriately), and bio-stimulation with Radiesse, Sculptra or Gouri, is spread under the skin with a cannula; like buttering toast.
The effect of mono threads last around 9-12 months as they dissolve after around 4/5 months, but the collagen will still break down as it usually does in the skin.
Maintenance for mono threads is advised every 6 months.
They are a good and cost effective way of preventing the signs of ageing.
Biostimulation with Radiesse, Sculptra or Gouri will last longer at 1.5 years as it stays in the skin longer and keeps creating collagen.
