WHAT IS A PDO THREAD LIFT?
This is a non-invasive procedure which is an alternative to a surgical face lift.
Temporary surgical sutures are gently inserted under the skin to produce a subtle but visible lift in the face.
The threads are used to 'suspend' the skin by pulling the skin back slightly and therefore lifting and tightening the face.
In addition to lifting the skin, the threads can help with the ageing process in another way; which is by stimulating the producing large quantities of collagen in the treated areas.
As we age, we lose collagen which is the 'elastic' holding the skin taught - which is why we end up with loose/lax skin over time.
Threads can help tighten the skin due to all the collagen it helps to stimulate.
PDO thread treatments can be divided into two main categories, Rejuvenation PDO Threads and Lifting PDO Threads also known as thread lifting or Cog PDO Threads.
REJUVENATION PDO THREADS:
Rejuvenation PDO Threads are used to improve skin quality, but strategically inserted they will provide a lift via skin tightening as well as facial contouring.
Although they can be used in strategic locations all around the face, typical treatment areas include a sagging jawline, neck sagging, tear troughs, the corners of the mouth, and the forehead.
A typical treatment would involve anywhere from 10-20 rejuvenation threads per treatment area.
PDO THREAD LIFTING TREATMENTS:
PDO thread lifting is the most dramatic treatment option for PDO threads.
Lifting threads have barbs (also known as cogs) along the length of the thread with the aim of affixing the skin in a position to give the appearance of a minor facelift.
You will see an immediate lift due to the barbs being activated and hooking into the underside of the skin and long-lasting effect due to the gradual metabolism of the thread which leads to skin rejuvenation.
Different Types of PDO Threads
Mono threads are a type of single PDO filament. These threads are smooth and made without barbs (cog threads).
They are minimally invasive.
They are typically inserted into the skin in a mesh-like pattern to achieve maximum tightening effects.
Once in the skin, the threads activate collagen synthesis for a gradual skin tightening and skin rejuvenation effect.
On average around 10 to 30 mono threads are typically used for each individual treatment area.
Cog threads are similar to mono threads but contain barbs that attach and 'hook' to the underside of the skin.
These barbs offer enhanced support to the structure of the skin to lift sagging tissue as well as effectively promoting collagen formation around the threads and their barbs.
Cog threads can be used on their own or in combination with mono threads to mechanically suspend tissue structures for skin that looks and feels firm and smooth. These types of threads are often used to create a slimmer face by lifting sagging skin in the jawline.
If you’re looking to give areas of your face more volume, screw threads are an excellent option.
To create a V-shape face, screw threads help to reverse sunken areas and give the face a non-surgical facelift.
